When I started this blog for my 5303 ePortfolio class, one thing I knew was that it needed to have my own flair on it. If my name was going to be attached to something in a professional manner I wanted it to represent me well. Of course I wanted it to be professional. That seems like a no brainer, but I don't ever want to come across as someone that I'm not. I have a healthy sense of humor, always. But don't for get to add in a subtle sense of sarcasm this is woven into my personality. I love to make people laugh and I think the best interviews I have ever been in we were laughing. Life is too short to take yourself so seriously that there is no laughter.

Being able to portray myself in a unique way through this course, while still completing assignments gave me a true sense of self. It made my writing feel authentic and in turn this idea of COVA (Choice, Ownership, and Voice through Authentic Learning) is really growing on me (Harapnuik, 2018). The assignment could have been to create a blog, but there could have been significantly less freedom and creativity. The could have all ended up being quite similar and there would have been very little differentiation between students. However, with the COVA approach, student voice is allowed to shine through.

I do not know that I would have been comfortable putting myself out there in a way that represented me inauthentically. Which this assignment and course easily could have gone that way, but thankfully we were encouraged to be ourselves and let our true colors shine through. I think that is important for any ePortfolio. If potential employers or professional relationships are going to be viewing these pages, they need to get a true view of who I am as a person. This has been a fun project and I'm glad it got to show so much of who I am!
